"Sul Lago Luccica"
Helidon Xhixha
Light Sculptures on Lake Maggiore
The project for a multi-venue exhibition of Helidon Xhixha's iconic sculptures
is intended as a continuation, after a few years' hiatus, of the Gambarogno area's intrinsic tradition of that relationship between art, nature, and history, exemplified over the decades by the open-air sculpture exhibitions of Vira Gambarogno, led by Professor Edgardo Ratti. Such a cultural heritage could not be stopped or extinguished, and, having gathered our energies, we see in this new exhibition project a sure continuation of the same artistic and cultural aims
of Gambarogno Arte and those who have always supported
the triennial events of that time.
The union of the municipalities suggested the possibility of having Vira Gambarogno as a
historical exhibition location. However, given the visual appeal, visibility, and interactivity of Xhixha's works with the public, urban and rural environments,
nature and water, an element dear to the artist, favored the exhibition's widespread distribution, involving other fascinating locations around Gambarogno and Lake Maggiore, identifying some optimal locations for Helidon Xhixha's light sculptures. The visual result is a continuous dialogue between these large steel jewels and the beauty of the lake, the mountains, and the historic buildings. The charm and interactivity that arises spontaneously between Xhixha's sculpture and the public, the dialogue between nature and artifice, the light of the lake and its blue and green hues, are the reasons that invite visitors to visit the light trail "Sul Lago Luccica", which, with G26, will illuminate Gambarogno, Vira, Magadino, Gerra, Sant'Abbondio, Vairano, Ascona, and Lake Maggiore, a further unique and original cultural attraction, offered alongside the area's other outstanding attractions.
