Yacht Club Monaco

June 2014

Helidon unveiled the monolithic monument “Vela” at the new Yacht Club de Monaco in June 2014, as part of the celebrations for the new clubhouse, designed by Lord Norman Foster. The five- metre tall monument, made of 316 marine grade stainless steel, resembles a sail and stands proudly next to the entrance of the clubhouse at quay level.

Smaller than Vela but no less impactful, the Giraglia Rolex Cup was designed by Helidon in the same style as the Yacht Club’s emblem, and given to Roberto Tomasini Grinover by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, as a reward for a first-place finish. For the first and only time in its history, the 2014 event ended in Monaco, where the trophy was handed over in the shadow of its bigger brother.
